February........Althought I am short of days and small, I am quite a big month after all!!
We begin February with love and hearts galore! Kindergarten will be decorating 100 hearts for the 100 day of School! What a great way to show our school love!!! In Religion we are also talking about love! Jesus said "love one another, as I have loved you." How can we show love for others like Jesus did? We will also begin to understand subtraction in Math and use our Blended Learning centers to help us! In Social Studies we will learn about our Presidents George Washington and Abe Lincoln, and all about the groundhog. February is also Dental Health month! Keep those teeth clean and healthy! How can we do that? February will we also honor Black History by learning about a famous artist Alma Thomas who loved colors! We will also be learning alittle about poetry and here is one about February!

Happy New Year! Welcome 2023!
As we begin the New Year refreshed and rejuvenated let us be thankfuf for all the holidays brought us and the birth of our Lord Jesus! In Religiont this month we will learn about Jesus as a young child and life with his Holy Family. How was his life like yours and how was it different? In Math we will begin addition!! Our letters this month are Pp, Rr, Kk, Jj, . Kindergarten rocks in January! Science will tell us all about frozen water and we will talk about our Arctic Animals! Brrrr! And in Social Studies we will learn about the important work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! We will also be reading An Orange in January and talk about how goods are grown and transported. Lots of learning and fun to be discovered this month! Stay tuned!

NOVEMBER
As we begin this season of giving Thanks and being grateful, Kindergarten will talk about how to be grateful for the gifts of God, and how to share them with friends and family. We will complete a leaf garland of the things we are most grateful for! In Math we will begin to count, print and compare numbers 6-10. We will talk about trees and the spectacular changes in autumn. As well we will talk about hibernation and how animals prepare for the long winter.
Phonics begins our next round of consonants and their sounds Ll, Cc, Dd, Nn, Gg and Ww. Social Studies, we will celebrate our Veterans and talk about what it means to vote! We will vote on our favorite Thanksgiving foods!!

OCTOBER NEWS
Spooky Season is upon us and Kindergarten is getting ready!! We have welcomed in the Fall with a look at some of the changes we see around us! We are learning about noctournal animals, particularly bats! We are also learning about rhyming words for bat! In Math we are counting and writing, numbers to 5! We are learning the sound of letters Tt, Bb for bat and Hh for Halloween!! October is also Fire Safety month and we have been learning some importants rules to follow! As well, we have talked about the jobs and tools the firefighters use and also about fire dogs!! Our spotted friends, Dalmations! We are reading some favorite stories for Halloween and Autumn. Some of our favorites, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat by Lucille Colandra and How I Met My Monster by Amanda Noll! Lots more
great stories to fill our month with pumpkins, witches and ghosts!! We will even carve a pumpkin and explore all the good stuff inside!! Its a busy month and we are batty for October!!

September has arrived and "back to school" is here! I am so excited to meet our new Kindergarten students. I am sure we will have a wonderful school year! So here are a few notes for the beginning weeks:
September 7 - Children will be picked up in the schoolyard at 8:00 (weather permitting) Dismissal will be at the church doors. Wednesday is a half day 12 noon dismissal.
September 8 and 9- Full days -Dismissal will be at the church doors.
- For the first day children will only need a light lunch and a juice or water. Thurdsay and Friday the children should bring snack and lunch.
- Kindergarten wears a modified uniform consisting of a white polo shirt and blue shorts or gym pants. Please see the Parent Handbook for details.Sneakers or rubber soled shoes should be worn.
- Children will need a backpack and lunch bag or box with their name on it.
- Change of clothes in a plastic bag (complete with extra under garments and socks) to be left in the classroom so please label with child's name. This should be brought in the first day!
- 2 pocket folders will be needed 1 for homework, notes, completed work and 1 we will keep in the classroom.
-Childen may bring 1 box of colored pencils and 1 box of markers to be used for Art or for classroom work.
It is very important that all of your childs belongings are labeled!
