Mr. Anthony P. Naccari – Principal – Mr. Naccari looks forward to beginning his second year as principal of Saint Gabriel School. This year we will be continuing the successful academic initiatives that were started last year. These initiatives include Achieve 3000, Elevate Learning, and the NED Character Development Program. Mr. Naccari is thrilled to incorporate STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Meet the Artists Program in conjunction with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Journalism, and Student Government this school year. He comes to Saint Gabriel’s with an extensive background in education both in the Archdiocese of New York and the New York City Public School system. He most recently taught Sixth Grade at Saint Philip Neri School in the Bronx. Mr. Naccari has also served as Principal at Saint Mary School in the Bronx, and as Director of Religious Education in Saint Philip Neri Parish.
Mr. Glenn A. McCarthy has been a teacher at Saint Gabriel School since 1976. He teaches sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grade Mathematics. As the eighth grade homeroom teacher, he also instructs the students in Religion and ELA. One of his greatest pleasures is coordinating the Annual Basketball Marathon for charity.
Mr. Erik Brillon – Grade 7 – It is indeed a pleasure to welcome Mr. Erik Brillon to our Saint Gabriel faculty and family. Mr. Brillon comes to us with a great deal of teaching experience at both the secondary and university levels. He is not only an educator, but he is also a parent of school age children. Mr. Brillon holds an advance degree in technology and scientific study. With his commitment and dedication to Catholic education, we know that he will lead our students to great success.
Ms Eileen O’Beirne, a Saint Gabriel teacher since 1996, teaches Social Studies to grades six, seven and eight. In addition, she teaches Religion and ELA to her sixth grade homeroom students.
Mr. Corey Scagliola has been a faculty member since 2004. He began his teaching career as the Physical Education teacher and as of September 2007, is the fifth grade teacher.
Mrs. Dolores Ahern has been a full-time member of Saint Gabriel School faculty since 1992. Before that time she held the position of Art teacher. She is the fourth grade teacher.
Ms. Maria Zayas begins her second year as our third grade teacher, and she is looking forward to continuing the child centered and project based and Common Core standard based initiatives that she successfully established last year.
Mrs. Laura Garvey, second grade teacher, has been on the faculty since 1998. She enjoys preparing her class for receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.
Mrs. Ofelia Seminario was the PreK-4 teacher from 2006-2008. Before that, she was the Teacher’s Aide in our PreK program. In September 2008 she began teaching first grade.
Miss Deborah Flynn began teaching Kindergarten in Saint Gabriel School in September, 2011. She had 26 years’ experience teaching in other Archdiocesan schools.
Mrs. Angela Hoyt is the Kindergarten aide.
Mrs. Arlean Leahy – Teacher of UPK 1. Mrs. Leahy has been an integral component of our pre kindergarten program and will continue to lead our upk students to great academic and social success by continuing her wonderful instruction and providing a nurturing environment that is conducive to the learning and development of her students.
Mrs. Michelle Ness – Teaching Assistant UPK 1. We are thrilled to welcome back Mrs. Ness who has contributed a great deal to the success of Saint Gabriel School as an aide in our kindergarten program and as a substitute teacher in our middle school. Mrs. Ness holds a degree in psychology and child development, and we are blessed to have her on our staff.
Dariana Fernandez – Teacher’s Aide UPK 1 – comes to us from the Riverdale Neighborhood House with successful experience in early childhood development. She will be a tremendous asset to our staff and school.
Stephanie Barreto – Teacher of UPK 2. We extend a heartfelt welcome to Ms. Baretto to Saint Gabriel School . Our Universal Pre Kindergarten program will truly benefit from her great deal of experience in early childhood, literacy education, and speech development. She has experienced great success with differentiated instruction and child centered learning.
Susan Hamrick – Teacher’s Aide UPK 2 – comes to us from P.S 24 with extensive experience in early childhood development and education. Her own children graduated from Saint Gabriel School, and we welcome her back to our family.
Mrs. Melissa Kakavas is the Pre-K3 teacher. She had previously been the PreK aide.
Margies Santana is the Teacher’s Aide in Pre Kindergarten 3
Mrs. Katherine Barbosa has been the Art teacher for grades K-8 since September, 2010. She began teaching Spanish to grades 1-8 in 2013.
Mr. David Byrne teaches Physical Education to grades K–8. He began teaching in Saint Gabriel Faculty in September, 2011. He also teaches in other Archdiocesan elementary schools.
Ms. Nancy Parish teaches Music to grades K–8. She enjoys preparing the students for the Christmas Show and the Spring Show. She has been a member of the faculty since September 2005. She is the Director of Music for Saint Gabriel Parish as well.
Mrs. Grace Daly is the Administrative Assistant.
Mrs. Marie-Jeanne Gwertzman is the Director of Religious Education.
Mrs. Geraldine Sherry is the After-School Supervisor.
Mr. Brian Carty and Mr. James Husk are the Custodians.
