• Welcome to 6th Grade. I am confident you will have a great experience in Middle School! Here are the supplies needed and your summer assignment. Have a great summer! I cannot wait to be your teacher in September.

• 10 Composition Wide Ruled Notebooks (Serves as notebooks for subject areas) Spiral notebooks are not permitted. 
• 3 Packages of Wide Ruled Loose Leaf Paper (No college ruled and no theme tablets).  Bring one pack to school and leave the others at home for when you need it. The paper goes very quickly so it is better to have it at home for when you need it.
• Blue ball point pens (felt tip, liquid gel, and clicking pens are not permitted)
• Red ball point pens (e.g. Bic or Papermate) for correcting work in class.
• Sharpened #2 Pencils with erasers for Math. (No pencil sharpeners are allowed in class!)
• St. Gabriel School Assignment Pad (to be bought in school)
• Cloth Pencil Case (no plastic pencil boxes)
• 6” inch ruler, a protractor, and an inexpensive calculator which should be stored in your pencil case.
• One 8-pocket folder with bottom pockets (no accordion folders)
• 2- 2 pocket folders to be kept at home for storage
• Plain white adhesive labels, nothing smaller than 1” x 3”. ( Do not label anything.  We will do that during the first week of school.
• A small combination dictionary
• Package of white index cards
   
• Your summer assignment is to read the Library Card by Jerry Spinelli.  Your assignment is to be a book critic and review the book.  What parts did you like best?  What do you wish you could change?  How many stars would you give the book?  How would you describe the book to others?  The more details the better! The book has a few stories in it so please write about each story. The assignment should be at least one page long.  

•  Please be ready to discuss this book on the first day of class.  We will be reading other books by Jerry Spinelli and we will be comparing and contrasting the books.  (You can bring in index cards with your notes from each story)
